Semillitas Book Club started as a simple storytime in Dallas in the early 2000s, when our founder, Ofelia, was raising her first toddler. As her family grew, so did her understanding that raising lifelong readers takes ongoing, evolving effort.

What began as storytime soon blossomed into a children’s book club, then into reading nooks, book exchanges, and culturally rooted arts and literacy workshops that continue to grow with families' needs.

To date, we’ve shared thousands of free books, art supplies, and joyful moments—helping families see that reading and creativity are not just fun, but powerful tools for building community.

Donate Now

We are dedicated to growing lifelong readers in our communities.  Your donations and support allow us to increase the following:

  • Access to books that reflect the diversity that exists in our families.
  • Opportunities for children to tell their own stories through art and writing.
  • The visibility of creatives of color and their work.

Monetary donations purchase books and art supplies for pop-ups, reading nooks, story-times, and art kit giveaways.

New/used book and art supply donations are also accepted and/or donated to the community or recycled/repurposed for community-based workshops and other projects.

Volunteers are needed to help put together kits and other materials we use in the community.
